Greetings from our nation's capitol- While visiting the website of the DC bike library, dubbed Chain Reaction, I came across this map listing the bicycle collectives across America. Iowa City appears to be the lone fort in our push for the Midwest.
Thanks for the info, Chesty. It looks like Shaw EcoVillage is doing some great and varied things regarding sustainable living. (Their website is really nice, too.)
Do you think you'll be able to do some volunteering with them while you're in DC?
The Bike Library is a volunteer-run community bike project located in Iowa City, IA. We repair donated bikes and check them out to the public. Bikes are priced with a deposit (ranging from $30-$100). If a bike is returned in good condition within the six-month checkout period, the full amount of the deposit will be returned to the user. Alternately, patrons can choose to keep their bikes and forfeit their deposit.
RETAIL HOURS
